St. Louis, MO — Even though it was all smiles as Grand Rapids Fusion players and staff piled into the team van Saturday morning, the 2014 IBA champs knew it was a long trip to St. Louis, about 450 miles long. So, diehard fans will understand the 134-84 loss to the St. Louis Trotters sent them home with knowing the Fusion arrived at the Wohl Recreation Center around 5:30pm.

13139267_1785196675050983_6371291723669504532_nAs it turns out, the long ride wasn’t the only hurdle the Fusion would find in front of them. Cordy Whitehead went to his Facebook page Sunday to let #FusionNation know, “Tuff game yesterday! It felt like we was fighting for our lives in that 80° gym!”

Amani Pritchett again paced the Fusion racking up 35 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

IBA Player of the Week Delonzo Wilkins, aka #MrDoubleDouble, added 14 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals.

Lamont Cope continued his offensive attack finishing with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.

IBA Defensive Player of the Week Randy Jefferson had a slow night on the offensive end with 7 points, but kept up the defense, recording 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

‘Bubba Savagelife’ pitched in with 18points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.

The loss takes the team to 2-4 on the season. Coach Marco Wilkinson has hoopville_logo-1almost two weeks to get ready for their next game, home at Kuyper College Saturday, May 14th against the Illinois Hoopville Warriors. The game tips at 5pm ET.  The Fusion have a bye week over Mother’s Day.
