Terry Bradshaw‘s three-point field goal attempt in the final seconds fell just short and the Illinois Hoopville Warrirors escaped Beer City, USA with the win as the Grand Rapids Fusion fell Saturday at Kuyper College by a final score of 111-108.
After honoring military veterans and active duty servicemen, the Fusion got out to an early lead. Grand Rapids took a 12-point lead into the halftime break, 61-49, and had the Warriors on their heels.
The Fusion would lead the game for most of the second half but found themselves down by three with nearly 1:40 left in the fourth quarter. After a bit of back-and-forth, Bradshaw found himself taking that last field goal attempt at the buzzer.
Delonzo Wilkins, aka Mr. Double-Double, lead the way with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the Fusion.
Amani Pritchett added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists while Randy Jefferson continued his solid play with 14 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and just to keep it defensively sound, 4 steals. Bradshaw ended the night with 22 points, 9 rebounds,
2 steals and 3 assists. Lamont Cope chipped in with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Devoun Avonte Merriweather gave good minutes and added 16 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
At the game , Wilkins presented Zachary Murphy with an autographed t-shirt for The Freedom Cruise, raising money for “finish the mission” for veterans and their families.
