Golden Eagles raise National Championship banner

The Cornerstone University Golden Eagles raised their third NAIA D-II Men’s Basketball National Championship banner tonight. After winning in 1999 and 2011, coach Kim Elders and the team has done it again, this time beating Dakota Wesleyan in Point Lookout, MO last week.

Senior Ty Mason thanked the crowd, his team and coaching staff, adding, “It means so much to me to have my parents there at the games.” Speaking on the continued success over the years of the Golden Eagles’ program, 2-time and reigning NAIA D-II Coach of the Year Kim Elders held back tears saying, “The one constant has been Christ…The best coaching staff in the country. And I rely on them so much…This team stands out as one of the best in character I’ve ever coached.” And with that, the banner was raised into place between the others above the home court at Mol Arena.
