GRCC Raiders headed to NJCAA Sweet Sixteen next week

After a great season (20-12 overall, 11-7 conference) and a win in the NJCAA Region XII District 9 title game, the Grand Rapids Community College Raiders men’s basketball team is going dancing in the Sweet Sixteen of the NJCAA Tournament.

Last Saturday, the Raiders defeated Ancilla College 81-70 in the title game after wins over Mid-Michigan and Muskegon.

GRCC’s Jeffrey Drake-Todd, Maxwell Prendergast and Arthur Pearson were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Raiders first-year coach Luke Bronkema, who played at Cornerstone University and McBain HS, was named Region XII District 9 Coach of the Year.

The 4-round tournament will be held at the Mary Miller Center, on the campus of Danville (IL) Area Community College, on March 21-25, 2017. The 11th-seeded GRCC will play #3-seed Essex County (NJ) at 2 p.m. CST on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in their first game.
