GRCC takes 6th place at NJCAA men’s hoops tournament

The GRCC Raiders fell to the Parkland Cobras 81-70 in the 5th place game at the NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament in Danville, IL on Saturday.

Coming off their 84-78 win on Friday over the Niagara County Thunder Wolves, in which Jeffrey Drake-Todd led the way with 20 points and Arthur Pearson added 19, the Raiders couldn’t finish off the Cobras and found themselves being recognized as the 6th place team in the nation.

After tying the game at 59, the Cobras went on a 5-0 run to pull away from GRCC and kept control as they grew the lead to nine points in the final minutes.

Drake-Todd earned All-Tournament Team honors by scoring at least 20 points in all four games during the week.
