GRCC’s Jeffrey Drake-Todd named NJCAA 1st Team All-American


Grand Rapids, MI. — On April 13, the NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Committee released its selections for the 2016-2017 All-American Teams. A familiar name was listed under First Team All-American, Sophomore, Jeffrey Drake-Todd. The six foot guard is the first in GRCC Men’s Basketball history to be named First Team All-American. Drake-Todd can add this award to the growing number of awards he has won for his efforts this past season. Which include, NJCAA Division II National All-Tournament Team, Region XII, District 9 Tournament MVP, GRCC Donald R. Black Male Athlete of the Year, First Team All-Region XII and First Team All-Conference.

Drake-Todd helped lead the Raiders to a 22-14 (11-7 MCCAA) record and a NJCAA District 9 Championship, qualifying GRCC for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament where the Raider finished in 6th place, their second best finish in program history. During the 2016-2017 season, Drake-Todd became one of the country’s best all around scorers, ranking third nationally with 776 points in 36 games, for an average of 21.6 ppg. Drake-Todd proved to be a well rounded player, excelling in multiple facets of the game, averaging 4.8 rebound per game, dishing out 161 assists (21st nationally) and stealing the ball 81 times (13th nationally).

Drake-Todd was joined on the Division II All-American Team by a slew of Michigan Community College Athletic Association players. Including fellow first teamers Isaiah Green from Lansing Community College and Diandre Wilson from Mott Community College.  The full list can be seen below.
