Happy New Year! Saints get win in first game of 2018

The Aquinas Saints men’s basketball team ended 2017 giving up a late lead and losing their upset bid of the #2-ranked team in the nation. So, getting a victory in their first game of 2018 is a big deal.

The Saints shot nearly 50% from the field and hit seven of 13 from behind the arc in their 69-65 win over Siena Heights on Wednesday. The win moves the Saints to 9-9 overall and 5-3 in WHAC play.

Arsenio Arrington was fouled, made one of two free throws and kept Aquinas on top, 65-63.

TJ Hunter and Beau LePage each made a pair of free throws in the final 26 seconds to seal the victory.

Opeyemi Sholesi led the way with 14 points and Arrington added 10 points, five boards, and five assists.

Aquinas heads on the road  Saturday against Concordia in Ann Arbor.
