Ten Straight Wins!

If this were the college football playoff, the Cornerstone Golden Eagles (10-2) would be in. The team moved to 3-0 against teams ranked in the Top 5 with an 83-65 victory over #5 Indiana Tech. They also remained undefeated (4-0) in WHAC play.

Current Indiana Tech head coach Ted Albert, a former Cornerstone assistant, returned to Mol Arena to see the Golden Eagles get out to a 9-2 lead early on before his Warriors team settled in and took a 13-12 lead about eight minutes into the game. Cornerstone made the next basket and never trailed again. The Golden Eagles led 39-36 at halftime.

Cornerstone kept the pressure on in the second half, as well. After scoring the first four points after the break, CU pushed the lead to double-digits and used a 13-4 run to stretch the lead to 17.

“We played really well defensively despite some lapses. When our guys buy in, we are hard to score against and that showed tonight against a really good team,” head coach Kim Elders told cugoldeneagles.com.

Sam Vander Sluis led four players in double figures with 24 points. He also grabbed 15 rebounds. Kyle Steigenga finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Riley Coston (12) and Tyler Baker (11) also contributed on the stat sheet. The team shot 50.9% from the field.

Cornerstone leaves on the road for their next five games.
