The Grand Rapids Danger have added Alex Mustert for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
Mustert, 6-foot-7, gives the Danger a low post presence they didn’t have last year, the first season of ABA basketball in Beer City, USA. After a two-year varsity career at Grand Rapids Christian High School, Mustert went on to play at Grand Rapids Community College before heading off to Calvin College and eventually finishing up at Northern Michigan University.
At GRCC, Mustert was named All-MCCAA while appearing in 29 games, averaging 13.6 points and 9.2 rebounds. He played in 15 games at Calvin, scoring 6.9 points per game. At NMU, he appeared in 15 games, averaging 17.5 minutes per game. Scored 138 points and added 122 rebounds, 19 assists, 11 steals and 11 blocks on the season, including a season-high 16 points against Southern Wesleyan (Nov. 28).
Coach Chuck Johnson is excited to have another true big man, looking for him to defend and help anchor the paint.
