Ebanks, Talton lead Drive past Mad Ants, 111-105

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 6, 2016) – Devin Ebanks did it again.

The Grand Rapids Drive forward scored a team-high 28 points in a 111-105 win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Saturday night at the DeltaPlex Arena.

Grand Rapids got out to a quick lead behind Gary Talton‘s three triples and led 32-20 after the first quarter. Dalton, who played 32 games for Fort Wayne last season, had a season-high 18 points for the Drive. The home crowd enjoyed seeing the return of fan favorite, Lorenzo Brown, who is back with the Drive after his two 10-day contracts with the Phoenix Suns.

The Drive kept up the great play in the second quarter. Kelsey Barlow threw a behind-the-back bounce pass to Ebanks, who drained a 3-pointer for a 43-26 lead. Ebanks, averaging 25.5 points per game over his last eight games, had 18 points by the break as Grand Rapids led 60-45 at halftime.

Grand Rapids extended the lead to 89-70 after the third quarter. Fort Wayne, down by 20 points early in the fourth quarter, got within five points at the end of the game by outscoring the Drive 35-22 over the final 12 minutes.

Walter Lemon Jr., a 6-foot-3 guard out of Bradley University selected for the D-League All-Star Game Slam Dunk Contest on Feb. 13., had a team-high 22 points. C.J. Fair added 20 points. Rakeem Christmas (18), John Lucas III (14), Xavier Thames (11) and Terran Petteway (11) all added double figures in scoring for the Mad Ants.

For the Drive, Henry Sims finished with 16 points and Brown scored 13. Ismael Romero had four points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Grand Rapids, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, improves to 14-13, 6.5 games behind first-place Sioux Falls in the Central Division. Fort Wayne, whose parent club is the Indiana Pacers, falls to 13-16, losing three in a row.

Fort Wayne next plays Tuesday when it hosts the Delaware 87ers in a 7 p.m. EST contest. Grand Rapids heads on the road to play the Canton Charge on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
