Nix, the 6-foot-9, 270-pound forward, attended Detroit Pershing High School where he averaged 15 points and 15 rebounds during his senior season in 2009, leading the Doughboys to the Class A State title. Nix played for coach Tom Izzo at MSU from 2009-2013. He averaged 9.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in his senior season in East Lansing.

After going undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft, Nix signed a three-year deal with KK Krka in Slovenia but left to play at VEF Riga in Latvia soon afterward. He then spent some time in France and Poland before returning to the U.S. and signing with the Drive on December 21, 2015.

In his debut with Grand Rapids two days later, Nix was unimpressive. He averaged 0.7 points in three games for the Drive before being released in February of 2016.

Nix then went back to Latvia for the remainder of the 2016 season.
