The Grand Rapids Griffins have re-signed defenseman Nathan Paetsch to a 2-year deal and signed left wings Jeff Hoggan and Triston Grant, who returns following a one-year absence, to 1-year deals. The trio led the Griffins to their first Calder Cup championship in 2012-13 and will provide leadership for new head coach Todd Nelson.

 

Paetsch is one of the most prolific scorers the Griffins have ever seen. He’s 32, and a plus-24 rating last year ranked him 6th among AHL defensemen.  he scored 100 points for the Griffins in his career.

Hoggan is 37 and will join the Griffins for the fourth consecutive year as captain. On of only two Griffins to appear in every game last season, including the playoffs. He compiled a plus-23 rating with 14 goals and  17 assists for 31 points in 2014-15. He won the Fred T. Hunt Award for AHL sportsmanship in 2014-15.

Grant is a 31-year old, 10-year pro from Neepawa, Manitoba drafted by Philadelphia in 2004. He spent the 2014-15 season with the Milwaukee Admirals, where he had career highs in goals, assists and points (13,13/26) over 73 games. His 299 penalty minutes is 17th place in Griffins’ franchise history.
