Jeff Salajko making jump to NHL

Jeff Salajko, the goaltending development coach for the Grand Rapids Griffins, has been hired by the Detroit Red Wings as the team’s goaltending coach.

Salajko, a native of Kitchener, Ontario, has spent the past three seasons, 2013-16, with the Griffins. Over his 228 regular season games, Grand Rapids goaltenders combined for a 136-83-9 record and 2.44 goals against average while notching 19 shutouts.


Originally selected with pick number 236 by San Jose in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Salajko’s goaltending career was spent between the ECHL, AHL and IHL. He appeared in 323 games from 1996-2003.
