After a stretch of 19 tournaments over the past three months, the folks from Gus Macker gave themselves a bye week this past weekend to celebrate the Fourth of July, visit with family and friends and catch their breath before the heat swelters in August. Now, with the holiday behind them, they’re right back to the paved streets of Everytown, USA with three separates tournaments taking place this coming weekend in Michigan, Ohio and New York.

Greenville, MI, is just north of the origins of Macker (the McNeal’s driveway) in Lowell and (first World Tour host) Belding. Known for their Danish roots, the city will host its’ 16th annual tournament on downtown’s main drag, M-91.  This tournament hosts some of the coolest events you’ll see on the tour, including the Lil’ Tykes (ages 6 and under) and Junior (7-12) Dunk Contests, also known as the Dinky Dunkers.

Gus Macker, Scott McNealMacker returns to Byesville, OH for the third straight year and has visited Guernsey County for 17 consecutive years.  This year’s tournament will again help the Byesville Parks and Recreation Dept. with proceeds going toward updating the restrooms, roofs on the pavilions and playground equipment. This year’s event includes a 3-point contest, a free throw contest and a high school slam dunk contest, all new to the weekend. Games will be held at Meadowbrook HS.

Norwich, NY, the “City of Festivals”, hosts its 21st year of Gus Macker fun. The games will be played on Main Street and proceeds benefit the local Norwich Family YMCA and other organizations. Games played on the Tom Schwanns Memorial Kids Court honor the late local sports writer who was so much a part of the community. All proceeds from that court go to the Relay for Life battle against cancer.

It’s sure to be a fun weekend wherever the games are being played.

On the weekend of July 15-16, Macker heads out to four different communities including Sault Ste. Marie (MI), Hassett/Okemos (MI), Racine (WI) and Decatur (IL).
