North American Premier Basketball League coming in 2018

The North American Premier Basketball League will be holding an introductory new conference tomorrow, Thursday, July 6, 2017 in Chicago at 11 a.m. CST.

Fans and media can tune in via Facebook Live on the new league’s page.

The league has also announced that they will be holding a combine for interested players, which takes place in Winnipeg, MB on August 19, 2017. Interested players can register here.

The league expects team from both sides of the US-Canada border, including some that have lost teams from the NBA, NBA G League, ABA and former CBA.

Former commissioner of the National Basketball League of Canada, David Magley, has been hired to serve as president and chief operating officer of the new league, per The Kansas City Star report. Magley told Fanragsports.com that the NAPB has ownership groups in Seattle, Vancouver, Rochester, N.Y., and Las Vegas secured for the inaugural season. Those ownership groups must have a net worth of $2.5M, with an initial ante of $200K.

The league expects games to start being played at the start of 2018.

Salaries will tier into three categories with players earning $1,500, $3,000 or $5,000 monthly.

Locally, former Grand Rapids Cyclones CEO Adam Chrisco has been hired by the league as a Sales and Development Executive Director and will work out of Indianapolis, IN.
