“Q”, as he’s known to his teammates and coaches, is one of the area’s top point guards and the 6-foot-2 Jackson is racking up the awards after a great year. He was named to the Advance All-Area North Boys Basketball Team, gained honors on the Grand Rapids Press Dream Team 2nd team and earned his second consecutive first-team OK-Black all-conference nomination.
To top it all, Jackson was named a MHSAA Class A All-State Honorable Mention by the Associated Press after averaging 22.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game this season. He finalized his senior year with a 42-point effort at home against Mona Shores in the final regular season game for the Red Hawks.
“Quantes had a huge impact on our team, and was the leader and the engine of our team,” coach Brandoen Guyton told the Advance News staff.
“Quantes could take the game over in a variety of ways, whether it was scoring the ball, controlling tempo or shutting down the opposing team’s best player.”
Sinclair, one of the top JUCO programs in the Midwest, gets a player who is quick with and without the ball who can defend, as well. Jackson is a strong player who could score the ball at will in the high school game. He’s a good leader and a great teammate and should help the Tartans immediately.
