RED WINGS RE-SIGN MIELE AND McCOLLUM

The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday re-signed forward Andy Miele and goaltender Tom McCollum to one-year contracts.

Miele ranked first with the Griffins in scoring (AHL 2nd Overall) last season with 70 points, 26 goals and 44 assists.  A leader in many categories for the Griffins, he was 2nd on the team with 14 points during last season’s playoffs. Named to the first AHL First All-Star Team in 2014-15 after being on the AHL Second All-Star team the year before, he won the Hobie Baker Award in 2011 at Miami University as college hockey’s best player.  Miele is 27 years old, 5-8, 175 lbs. and a native of Detroit.
McCollum returns to the Griffins after another strong season, his sixth in GR. The 30th pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, McCollum is the 2014-15 IOA/American Specialty Man of the Year for his work in the GR community, his second time winning.  McCollum is 25.
