RIP Danny Nap

Spin That Rock around for Uncle Dan

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 23, 2025.
Daniel Thomas Napieralski, age 70, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 19, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine (Schab) Napieralski; mother, Pauline, father, Florian, and siblings Mary, Dee, Chuck, Richard, Pat, Paul, Bob, John, Agnes, and Flo. He is survived by his children, Michael Napieralski (Paige Underwood) and Elizabeth Napieralski (Johnny Pink); grandchildren Frankie Trinity, Olive Mae, Nora June, and Corbin Prince; and siblings Ray Napieralski, William Napieralski, Jerry Napieralski, and Anne (Napieralski) Karnik.

Daniel came from a large and loving Polish family and was #13 of 15 siblings. He married his high school sweetheart, Christine, in 1975. They remained happily married for 42 years. In Grand Rapids, Daniel ran NAPS Office Supply, before relocating to Cave Creek, AZ in 1985. He owned and operated Action Office Supply in Arizona until his retirement in 2021 and then relocated to Santa Fe, NM.

Daniel was an avid bowler throughout much of life, winning League Championships 1981 and 1985. Daniel was also enjoyed horse and dog racing and was renowned as the first off-track betting teller in the state of Arizona. He became known to many as “Dog Man Dan.” Always good for a laugh, Daniel had a great sense of humor and wry wit. When not tending to business, Daniel was a baseball enthusiast who frequented Arizona Diamondbacks games; and a familiar face at the casino where he relished the “ching” of the slot machines.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, https://csn.cancer.org/. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled later this year.

2023 was the year of Bridges

2023 was the year of Bridges as City took home their first title. As the original franchise in the League, they’ve played the most games (59), have the most wins (29) and the most losses (30).

City of Bridges (D Nags, P, T-Roof, Money, Kid A, Deja) celebrate winning Year 4.

D Nags became the first player in League history to break the career 400-point barrier. His next game will be his 50th, another League record.

Money (46 games, 298 points) and Kid A (45 games, 330 points) will each reach 50 games played this year and quite possibly the 400-point mark, respectively, as well.

Porter, T-Roof & Deja have engaged veterans RossTy (Achilles) and Gustafson (Business) about a possible return.

City of Bridges

The Rhythm fell just short in the Final Series in their second year together.

Since their inception in Year 3, they’ve won 67% of their games (20-10).

They’ve got a First Big 3 (Cope, Cuervo, Trav) and a New Big 3 (Parker, Uncle Jeff, Boogie) and will again be tough to contend with.

Rello has replied “hard maybe” about a return to the League. No word yet from Big Ed $.

Rhythm: River North

The Nets had a tough Final Series but will return most of the core squad.

Availability of stars Baker, Arrows & Juice will be key in their quest. Adding Evinrude to the cast was a real catch.

Will TK and Greeny be back? If not, could adding Hengy & Wooly in free agency be the answer?

Sixth Street Nets

Last year’s rookie squad of Hearts will return determined to attack with its defensive pressure and long-range shooting.

After going 1-2 in the Finals, Jody Breeze, Rio, Targets, JMills & Good Job James should all return to the mix.

Hamlet played a couple games with the Hearts late in the season. Is he the answer in the middle?

West Leonard Hearts

The GRR Ligers (aka Ruckus) will return to the game schedule in the Fall.

While their roster has been fluid over the years, the mainstays of Sam Awry, Silky & B. Buckets should all be back in green this season.

TLC has improved his shooting each season. Could there be a return of Moten, Scotty J, Frain Wreck or B Stacks?

Roundball Ruckus Ligers

The Fire took missing out on the Finals to reset and recoup after an incident resulting in a player being suspended for the remainder of the season.

Will Gr3g and Big Baby find a way to rebuild a fledging franchise amid such chaos?

Retaining DBk is the most likely option to start their first off-season working together.

Former players I’ll Will, Wall, Berlin & AFord are all on the radar.

Bridge Street Fire

All former League veterans were contacted just as the league season opened on July 1st.

So far, we’ve heard back from MJ (351points) and Crain.

Potential Rookies joining the League this season are BK (the gym keys!), Gator and Splash.

Merry Christmas & Best Swishes to you!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

The BeerCityHoops Players Association sends our best holiday swishes to each and every hooper that has been a part of our journey throughout the years.

We hope you’ll take the time to wad up the gift wrap, make sure the tallest gift box is open at the top & teach those tiny little relatives about “Phi Slamma Pajama“, “A Kobe Christmas“, or “TinseLinsanity“.

Here are our Keys to a Holiday Victory:

  • Don’t you dare park your car under the basketball hoop.
  • Make sure you’re open to playing defense.
  • Keep the “3-seconds” rule in politics and religion.
  • Take a charge/block to stop the pets from getting out.
  • Rebound from whatever happened yesterday.
  • Pass the potatoes to the open receiver.
  • Pick and/or Roll one up to slow the game down.
  • Pop out to the garage fridge & get a soda for grandma.
  • Never make a trade demand. It’s the Santa Clause.
  • Don’t hesitate, take your shot! (If proposing at the function…)
  • Always walk the handshake line before you leave.

We hope you’ll take these suggestions to heart as you head out to Holiday Happenings this season.

Stay tuned for more a big announcement about the League in the coming days.

Any questions?

Happy Birthday #35 to RossTy!

Besides brewing up some trouble on the court, our guy RossTy is a starter for the Trail Point Brewing team off the court, as well.

Originally known as the Bus Stop Kid, he’s graduated to full-time Hoops Hero.

Cheers to you, Brother of the Bridges!
